What is a dedicated USSD?

This is a digit code for example *123# that is solely used for your company or service

How long will approval and implementation take?

USSD Code NCC Approval = 2-8 Weeks (Optional)

USSD Deployment on all Operators = 8-12 Weeks

Integration with your Business Application = TBD

Timelines provided above are estimates. There are possible approval delays from NCC or integration delays from Telco.

What integration interface do you support?

You will be required to implement HollaTags’ USSD JSON API into your applications while we provide the necessary API information and integration support.

Do I need to have my own Business Application?

Yes, it is assumed that you have an existing system for managing your internal business application.

What kind of documentation is required?

If your service is regulated e.g., Banks, Mobile Money, Insurance, Lottery etc., you will be required to provide evidence of authorization (MoU, letters, license or similar) from the regulatory body

Are the mobile network sessions fees fixed forever?

Glad you asked. :) The mobile networks may in the future decide to charge additional fees for sessions or even the integration. If that was to be the case, those charges will be communicated to you.

Do you charge VAT?

All payments are subject to a 7.5% VAT

Will you help to get the USSD code from NCC or will this be our responsibility?

This is optional as you can do this yourself, or we can assist in getting the code on your behalf.

What is the duration of a session?

The duration of a session is Twenty (20) seconds

Can my users pay for their sessions?

Due to regulatory guidelines, No. reverse billing is applied. You can pay on behalf of your customers.

How many sessions will it take to complete a transaction?

This is dependent on the user carrying out the transaction and the number of steps needed to carry out the transaction.

Can I have a USSD code without having a website?

Yes. However, the API has to be integrated with an existing application. In a situation where you have no existing application, we can build one for you at a price.

Is Integration on a specific network possible?

Yes it is. You can choose to onboard your code on only one network.

Is the service Prepaid or Postpaid?

It is a prepaid service.

Does dedicated USSD use data?

No internet connection or data needed. USSD codes works across all the cellular networks
